Put Reading First: The Research Building Blocks for Teaching Children to Read

This 56-page booklet provides teachers with a summary of the findings of the National Reading Panel from its review of reading research. Organized by major reading topic for kindergarten through grade 3 (phonemic awareness instruction, phonics instruction, vocabulary instruction, fluency instruction, and text comprehension instruction), the booklet lists the main findings from the research, suggests how the findings can be translated to practice, and answers some frequently asked questions about each topic. (Description and photo were taken from the NIFL web site)

This 56 page teacher booklet is a fantastic resource for both teachers and parents! While this guide is designed specifically for teachers, Right Track Reading also highly recommends this FREE informational guide to parents who are teaching their children to read. Parents should order this 56 page ‘teacher’ version instead of the ‘parent’ version, as the brief 8 page brochure targeted for parents, Put Reading First Helping Your Child Learn to Read -Parent Guide lacks the necessary information & details to actually help your child develop skills.
